The latter’s legal team, led by Barrister Andreas Gledhill QC, accused McCabe of knowing a 3million payment to the club, which would allegedly never have to be repaid, came from ‘a member of the Bin Laden family’.Prince Abdullah, a member of Saudi Arabia’s royal family, also argued that the loanwould have to be paid back, the Sheffield Star report. The loan became known at the club as Project Delta, but the investment opportunity appears to link the Bramall Lane club to Al-Qaeda’s founder and former leader. Mr Justice Fancourt has been overseeing the case, which centres around which of the two men can take control of the club and on what terms, since it began at the High Court on Monday. He has been told the two individuals each own 50 per cent of Sheffield United, with McCabe approaching Prince Abdullah over a potential investment into the club in 2012.
