Geoffrey Boycott DESTROYS Manchester United players and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at club’s awards night live on MUTV
Geoffrey Boycott may not be asked back on MUTV again! The former England cricketer, a Manchester United fan, was interviewed live on the club’s in-house television channel at Old Trafford during their awards ceremony on Thursday night. And despite standing just yards away from the United players, Boycott absolutely laid into the squad and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, accusing them of letting themselves and supporters down. A draw against Huddersfield last Sunday ended any chances of United hoping to finish among the top four and they have won just two of their last 11 matches in all competitions, including cup exits to Wolves and Barcelona.Boycott, 78, who played a 108 Tests for England before retiring in 1981, is known for being forthright with his views and did not hold back when asked what United meant to him.“Disappointment more than anything,” he replied, when asking what Manchester United mean to him at present.“For half of the season there was hope, some enjoyment, some good times. And somehow it’s kind of faded away towards the end. The football hasn’t been inspiring if anything they’ve let themselves down and the people who support Manchester United, because I think they’re a bit better than that.“It’s not just the results, but some of the football has been hard to watch.”Luke Shaw won two awards at the ceremony1

While Solskjaer won his first eight matches in charge after taking over from Jose Mourinho in December, before being appointed on a permanent basis in March, Boycott dismissed the ‘rebuilding process’ theory.“He does but he doesn’t have a record of experience, does he?” the 78-year-old said.“He did at short time at Cardiff and then resigned honourably. He’s looked after a team in his home country but it’s not the Premier League.”Luke Shaw picked up the Players’ Player of the Year trophy before collecting the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
